Small restock - Amazing find! Very few original copies of this Library gem available! - Almost nothing is known about Lamberto Macchi’s lone LP, Downtown - released sometime during the early '80s - other than it is the creation of the son of legendary Italian composer and Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza member, Egisto Macchi, and that it contains contributions by the elder.
Covering a vast range of territory, it was likely to have been conceived as a library LP, for use in television and film. From funky lines, to minimal, melodic expanses, to the ambiences and forward thinking synths, it’s a journey into a versatile mind who we clearly never heard enough from. The rare copies in circulation have long commanded high prices, so these are bound to fly. If library music is your thing, don’t sleep. We’re unlikely to see this one come back again.
