Another guest from across a border: Supersister were Dutch, from The Hague, and To The Highest Bidder (1971) is their case for being the Low Countries' answer to the Canterbury scene. Led by the keyboardist Robert Jan Stips, later of the Nits, the quartet plays jazzy, witty, Soft Machine-shaped prog with flute, fuzz bass, and a Zappa-ish streak of absurdity, the long Energy (Out Of Future) showing how far they could stretch a single theme.

The album reached Britain through John Peel, who put it out on his Dandelion label, the pressing offered here. Not German, but cut from cousin cloth, and a delight for anyone who loves Caravan and early Soft Machine.
