After many years of city life, Andrea Cichecki discovered deep inspiration for her music in the nature surrounding her new home. Residing at the boundary where countryside meets woodland, she lives right at the 'edge effect', a unique zone where different ecosystems converge, creating a diverse and vibrant natural beauty.
This album is an emotional exploration of Andrea's past, touching on themes of loss and letting go, while also conveying hope and the enduring cycle of renewal found in nature …
Italian sound artist Marco Shuttle debuts on Astral Industries with AI-39. Alluring and evocative, ‘Sonidos y Modulaciones de la Selva’ is a journey deep into the Amazon rainforest, seeking to capture its power and vastness, but also a rumination on the problem of its impending destruction.
In this album Shuttle sees the continuation and further ripening of an ongoing creative process, utilising both audio and visual documentations as source material. On this occasion most of the field recording…
In a worthy tribute to the life and legacy of one of the great artists of our time, the always fantastic, Monterrey, Mexico, based imprint, Aurora Central, returns with a stunning reissue of Steve Roden's seminal 2001 full length “Forms of Paper”. A landmark in the history of Lowercase music - the idiom that Roden helped pioneer - unfurling like an alien, microscopic landscape, it's one of the true marvels of post-millennial sound practices that remains as effective and radical nearly two and ha…

A complete electronic circuit utilizes on and off electrical pulses, synthesized by assembly code, to manifest data as sound. The Wall Street Journal wrote, “Its oscillations have an intense, hypnotic force and a surprising emotional depth.” The device treats electricity as a sonic medium, making an intimate connection between the materiality of hardware and th…

When turned on, its music is synthesized in real-time by code programmed by the artist. Making a physical connection between code and hardware, the music was written to be pe…

"View was first presented as part of a solo exhibition at the jennjoy gallery in San Francisco, the show also included paintings, drawings, and a silent video work. For the installation, I asked Jenn to record for me the sounds of the View from one of the gallery windows. "sounds were recorded from ledge just above radiator on various days and times in april" sometimes the window was open, sometimes closed. I used fragments of these recordings as both a compositional cue as well as the entire so…
Haron’s Wandelaar is an album which successfully turns listening into an act of transport, leaving you in the midst of falling asleep, at a junction of dislocation, hazily arriving in a liminal world. Wandelaar is Haron’s reaction against the confines of dance music, gathering energy from his estrangement from its limitations and expectations, and using it as a means to reorder and interrogate sound. This release gestures a shift in Haron’s career, moving away from the dancefloor applicable outp…
*300 copies limited edition* On Force over Area, Yves De Mey combines slow and ominous melodies with stripped rhythms and acidic bass lines. Over the course of the album, Force over Area becomes a spatial construction with sounds bouncing off the walls, various elements trying to find a way in and air turning into liquid. After all, Force over Area means pressure. The 7 tracks are slowly paced, leaving time and space for continuous modulation of elements and parameters. The album’s freeform fits…
