Live from Studio 1
Newly unearthed, never before issued jazz funk hailing from Columbus, Ohio, recorded in 1982 by the short-lived project, Seeds of Fulfillment, Live from Studio 1 drowns the ear in the deep grooves, hair raising tonal interplay, and complex polyrhythms rising from African American communities at the dawn of the 80s.
Sacbé
Unique and beautifully recorded, with a breezy feel brought by the synthesizers, Sacbé could be likened to what Azymuth was doing at the same time in Brazil. Available as a vinyl-only limited pressing Deluxe Tip-On LP, coming with its original printed innersleeve. Sacbé was composed of Eugenio Toussaint (keyboards), Enrique Toussaint (electric bass) & Fernando Toussaint (drums), three brothers hailing from the huge Mexico city, and their friend and sax player Alejandro Campos. Growing up in a fa…
Two Is One
* 2021 Repress. Remastered. 180 gram LP * It seems that every major jazz artist has a one-off sort of record in their discography, be it with strings, voices, spoken word or - as in this case - a foray into the funkier side of jazz. Charlie Rouse (going here as Charles Rouse) gets his chance on Two Is One, a funky soul jazz excursion on Strata-East, the artist-run label where creativity and pushing boundaries was at the forefront. Playing mostly with a group of session musicians, Rouse put toget…
Sauce and Dogs
* Second edition. Each cover have individual artwork, different from the 1st edition * Modern Free / Experimental Jazz with heavy Brazillian rhythms and thundering electronics from the mysterious (but obviously very experienced) group. "Make it like starring at the shadows in plato's cave . Oblique and mysterioso - in a ponderous kind of everything and nothing puff of peppermint tinged smoke kind of a way"
Heart Of Darkness
After "Divertimento for tenor saxophone and small ensemble" (Alien Transistor) and "The Anatomy Of Melancholy" (Disko B) the two members of the Tied & Tickled Trio, Johannes Enders and Carl Oesterhelt, now publish their third collaboration Heart Of Darkness (Themes and Variations). 16 compositions, variations / improvisations for duo or chamber music ensemble; "Extremely interesting blend of jazz and non-jazz; Great ad hoc jazz improvisations on jazz-informed patterns " - Thomas Meinecke
Jaco Pastorius
Jaco Pastorius was widely acknowledged for his skills as an electric bass player. He died in 1987 at age 35 following a violent incident at a Fort Lauderdale drinking establishment. This self-titled album was Pastorius' solo debut and was originally released in 1976. The bass pieces are excellent and a good showcase of how skilful and talented Jaco was. His virtuous solo's heading off in different directions, what makes it a glorious debut album. The fact that he was only 24 years old when he re…
Dr Heckle and Mr Jive
The debut album by post-punk/funk group, Pigbag - Formed from creative jam sessions in punk’s aftermath, the young group gathered steam after convincing Simon Underwood to join the fun following his departure from The Pop Group. Mixing punk, funk, jazz, ska, reggae and afrobeat into a bewitching brew, this vinyl reissue is the first time this album has been on wax since 1982.
On The Corner
* 180 gram vinyl * Scorned by critics at the time of its release, Miles Davis' 1972 album On The Corner is now seen as a forerunner of Post Punk, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass and Electronic music, thanks to its revolutionary recording techniques. Miles wanted to reconnect with a younger audience, who had forsaken him for Rock and Funk, and the experimental On The Corner was his answer. Leaning more heavily on a drum and bass groundwork, the overdubs consisted of free improvisations held in the studio.…
Thrust
* 180 gram vinyl * The cover of Thrust reveals a lot of the album. Herbie's sitting comfortably his spaceship controlled by a synth froman alien world, reachingto the clouds and beyond. Well, that's what his stature was in 1974 - one of the seminal renewers of Jazz by incorporating new electric instruments like theARP synthesizer. Thrust is the follow up to Head Hunters using the same band except for drummer HarveyMason, who is replaced by Mike Clark, a Jazz great in his own right. Again, only f…
Sextant
* 180 gram vinyl * Herbie Hancock is one of the most prolific jazz pianists of the 20th century. A child prodigy, he played with the greats such as Donald Byrd and Miles Davis. He was one of the first to embrace and master the electric piano, but he always stayed true to the acoustic sound. In fact, he always bounced back and forth between his electronic and acoustic sound, touching upon almost every development in R&B, Funk and Jazz while retaining an original and distinctive voice. Sextant fro…
Tour Beats Vol. 1
In process of stocking. Anteloper is a duo of psychedelic sonic compatriots starring a pair of raggedy celestial sound warriors: trumpeter Jaimie Branch and drummer Jason Nazary. These longtime friends and collaborators met as young explorers and consider their electronic duo a continuous experiment into the unknown sonic abyss. Recent results have come back as mind-bendingly abstract head boppers, improvised organisms guided by a unique desire to hear what hasn’t been heard before. This is musi…
The Weather Up There
Chicago drummer and composer Jeremy Cunningham wrote The Weather Up There in response to the loss of his brother Andrew, who died in a home invasion robbery in 2008. Co-produced by Jeff Parker and Paul Bryan, and engineered by Paul Bryan and John McEntire, this new work confronts the tragedy of violence and examines the acute ripple effect on several people's lives through the lens of memory, response, and collage. Further deepening the textural and emotive impact, Cunningham formed a “drum choi…

Headhunters
**180 gram audiophile vinyl** Herbie Hancock is one of the most prolific jazz pianists of the 20th century. A child prodigy, he played with the greats such as Donald Byrd and Miles Davis. As he was a bit of a geek, he enjoyed gadgets & buttons and he was one of the first to embrace and master the electric piano, but he always stayed true to the acoustic sound. In fact, he always bounced back and forth between his electronic and acoustic sound, touching upon almost every development in R&B, Funk …
In The Skies

In The Skies was released almost a decade after his first solo stint The End Of The Game (1970). Accompanying Green on this album were several experienced session musicians, including Snowy White, who went on to work with Pink Floyd before joining Thin Lizzy. Filles De Kilimanjaro
**180-gram audiophile vinyl** Filles de Kilimanjaro (named after the Kilimanjaro African Coffee) is one the many masterpieces American composer and trumpeter Miles Davis recorded during his lifetime. It can be seen as a transitional album, right between his “acoustic” and “electric” period. He recorded this incredible work of modern jazz together with music great's such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. The five different songs all fitting together as expressions of the same bas…
Lunar
Lunar is a journey into the magical freedom of Lorenzo Tucci and Luca Mannutza. Hardly ever happens in jazz music to be caught by a charming madness, a folly vein whose effect is so attractive as disarming. It’s not about listening to an improvvisation, which is something unexpected by its nature. It’s about the true freedom of expression of a journey into sound whose route is shaped by this madness, something that can be unleashed without fear only by someone with strong skills and total contro…
Off Limits
*2022 stock* Myths take a long time dying, especially in jazz where the ability to confuse fact and fantasy has marked several generations of both critics and listeners. Perhaps the great Buddy Bolden could be heard for 14 miles on a clear night, but those who still believe that old one deserves to be interned in the same kind of institutions that housed Buddy in his latter days. The European jazz musicians, despite years of recorded evidence stretching right back to the wonderful Django Reinhar…
Rearward in Italy
*2022 stock* It was a really great idea to search for pieces, with the taste of a collector, and to produce this compilation, with jazz pieces and pieces extracted from refined sound tracks which have a subtle and intelligent taste, among the production of some of the biggest Italian composers in this sector. It is a piece that has never been reedited and it is of great taste, and consequent will to give works to an audience that otherwise are difficult to discover.  And therefore has taste for …
