*100 copies limited edition* 'Zone Habitable is as its name suggests, in astronomy and exobiology, a region of space where conditions are favorable for the appearance of life as we know it on Earth and therefore potentially capable of supporting life. extraterrestrial. Like a fiction, Habitable Zone is a translation, a musical interpretation (using various instruments, electronic processing and field recordings) of what this exoplanet could be.' - Bruno Duplant
The composition of the Duplant / Heraud duo fits perfectly with the centuries-old tradition of music inspired by the night, minimal variations follow one another carrying out a sound flow made of magnetic tapes, analog synthesizers and who knows what else. A stimulus to the listener's synapses, an album that breaks the boundary between reality and dream.
“Univers Parallèles presents us with two around twenty-minute slices of sparse piano wonderings and low-key sound making. It’s a release that shifts between just awakening drowsiness, and very creepy unease, with each track managing to create its own distinctive, and compelling atmosphere. The release appears as a CD/digital download on Slovenia-based Inexhaustible Editions, who are rapidly becoming one of my favourite labels. As they’ve been putting out some of the most worthy and interesting r…
l'infini des possibles is a set of twelve studies for solo piano, written by French composer Bruno Duplant in 2019. The score consists of lowercase letters (a, b, c, d, e, f, g) and spaces in between, which leaves the pianist an openness for interpretation and artistic determinations. The Belgian pianist/conductor Guy Vandromme intensely studied these 12 pieces via in-depth discussions with Duplant over two years, and realized them for this recording of a double CD in the spring of 2021, on a St…

** Packed on a killer looking CD edition designed by Entr’acte boss Allon Kaye ** Fresh in the post from Russia, via Stellage – this hallucinatory amalgamation of otherwordly soundscapes and sonic scenarios from Seth Neil & Bruno Deplant – one of two new CD’s in the steadily growing discography of solid experimental music and sound art the label and the artists that find themselves there - (eco)systems is a mix of acoustic instruments, field recordings, digital and analogue synths, structured in…
***80 copies*** Granny Records presents Élégie du temps présent by Bruno Duplant. Composition for organ & voices. Composed, performed & recorded by Bruno Duplant. Mastered by Bruno Duplant. Design & Artwork by Yorgos Vourlidas.
First in a series of collaborations between artists already on the label. Bruno Duplant on church organ, Alfredo Costa Monteiro on synthesizer, composing remotely a single long-form piece. The vocabulary moves between mass, flow and slow combustion: tonal accumulation that the artists frame in alchemical terms as an athanor of doubt and dream, a continuous sublimation that renews itself. Slow drone built across the organ-synth axis, mastered by Duplant.
* Glass Master CD. Panel Wallet Case. Full Color Artwork by Flesh & Bone Design * Modern life is full of sudden unexpected turns. Quelques Usines Fantômes n°3 both observes and ignores the norms of traditional time signatures by letting in an uncertain between-ness, a quasi-balancing of our immediate surroundings with the inner self. An internal battle or an eternal limbo? On this recording Bruno Duplant seems to further be exploring a slowing of time, almost as if to boundlessly analyze the uns…
* Edition of 100. Hand-stamped pro-dubbed C40 NAC super-ferric cassette tape with recto/verso printed golden card. Printed in Indonesia. Including download code of high quality digital version.* Bruno Duplant’s music often explores the memories of things, moments, and spaces. For this volume, he realizes the idea by religiously recording old electronic devices like VHS, old computer, floppy disk while it’s operating, during several months in 2019, and collected it. Per the artist statement, (e)r…
An exercise in musique concrète in the Luc Ferrari sense: not soundscape, not reportage, but the deliberate assemblage by montage and superposition of recorded sequences drawn from disparate origins, composed into a continuity that functions as sonic narrative. Meirino and Duplant arrange and contradict their sources so that the listener has to construct the story: recognition of materials and interpretation of their succession become themselves part of the compositional event.
**70 copies** Mappa editions presents a special duo project by Bruno Duplant and Pedro Chambel which connects field recordings and Duplant's photographic project emerging from the same concept.Bruno Duplant is sound enthusiast, composer, improviser and multi-instrumentalist living in the north of France. **200 copies** "For my collaborative piece Our Seasons Reverse I used recordings captured in Waziers, Saint Nazaire, Calais, Lille, Roubaix, Paris, London between 2017 and 2018. These recordings compiled a number of events that included museum visits, various walks by the sea, in the forest, under the rain, in the wind. I also play some organ parts. The link between all was the natural elements which are unleashed, all that could express that the climate is disrupting, that our seasons reverse, …
**500 copies** This album contains six pieces written by French composer / artist Bruno Duplant, all composed and realized by Dutch pianist / composer Reinier van Houdt. Duplant's scores Lettres (pour Reinier van Houdt) (2017) are three letter-form scores personally addressed to van Houdt containing letter sequences distributed across the page. Trois replis d'incertitude (2018) are also three letter-form scores but with the notion of 'repli' (meaning 'fold' in a Deleuzian postmodern baroque sens…

Bruno Duplant’s Chamber and Field Works is a double album that elegantly straddles the boundaries between composed and environmental sound. On disc one, the Suidobashi Chamber Ensemble brings to life three works composed between 2015 and 2017: “all that I learned and then forgot,” “where our dreams get lost,” and “a place of possibilities.” Duplant’s music here is characterized by extended tones, elongated melodies, and the intricate balancing of classical instruments - string, wind, and subtle …
Although living in separate European countries, Akama (electronics) and Duplant (organ, electronics) have forged a strong musical bond on a handful of collaborative releases, often with titles related to nothingness, which, in turn, mirrors the minimal, contemplative drone pieces contained therein. As its own titling suggests, immobilité (“immobility”) extends their musical concerns, and distills them in an extraordinarily rich way. More textural than event-based, these pieces are exquisitely pa…
Two major nuclear disasters, Tchernobyl and Fukushima, left its traces in our collective memory. Their devastating impact on the immediate environment left behind the ghost towns of Prypiat and Futaba. French sound artist Bruno Duplant never visited these exclusion zones. He took their existence as a starting point for an electroacoustic composition to investigate the relationship between fiction and reality. Sonic journalism like Peter Cusack's "Sounds from dangerous places" documents the reali…
Next to Nothing brings together Ryoko Akama (VCS3 synthesizer), Dominic Lash (double bass, clarinet, laptop), and Bruno Duplant (percussion, tone generator) for four works devised as text scores. Recorded in Sheffield, the album explores the hyper-minimal edges of sound, asking what music remains when nearly everything is removed - when process, gesture, and form are pared to their limits. The trio’s approach is not about the absence of activity, but about amplifying the tiniest events: tones, t…
“As a listener, I'm always intrigued as to what attracts me or doesn't with regard to works in the field recording vein. The same applies to other areas of music as well, of course, but it's especially interesting in these works composed of sounds generally taped on site and, to a lesser or greater degree, assembled back in the studio. They're simply sounds, after all, more or less what I could hear on my own by concentrating on my surroundings at any given moment (allowing for different sources…
