Confusional Quartet

The band see the light as Confusional Rock Quartet between 1977 and 1978, not a good period for refined and silky sonorities. Punk rock is spreading also in the “fat” Bologna. The quartet is made by Marco Bertoni (keyboards), Enrico Serotti (guitar), Lucio Ardito (formerly in the band Lizard, bass) and Gianni Cuoghi (drums). At the memorable “Bologna Rock” festival, 2nd April 1979, it’s one of the few bands who doesn’t get booed from the audience…The name is shortened to Confusional Quartet…

Live In Trentville
Unlike the distant "18/8/81" or the more recent "Wrong Ninna Nanna", this new solo work contains no piano or other instrumental parts. In this release, which occurred like all truly welcome things in an unexpected and unsought way, I have collected some of my own compositions created only from sound material recorded around or taken from other recorded music. Such material has been mutated with various sound processings, and assembled by multiplying layers in both digital and analog environments…
In the Box
Temporary super offer! A happening -- maybe one could call it that. Confusional Quartet is one of the most original and unique bands to ever come out of Italy, and one of the few bands able to switch from the prog rock era to dislocated art forms, painting their music with traces of early electronica and a post-punk twist (read: no wave). A bridge linked the band from Bologna (rock) to the musical past and present of the nation, with senses of urgency and creativity on top and a revolutionary ae…

Confusional Quartet Play Demetrio Stratos
After releasing a couple of albums since their 2011 reunion, Confusional Quartet is back again with an extraordinary new project; a brand new release featuring the voice of the great late Demetrio Stratos, the legendary lead singer of Area - International Popular Group. At the tail end of the seventies, the Bologna based Confusional Quartet represented one of the finest examples of the Italian new wave scene. A complex and energetic mixture between experimental rock, jazz and fresh sounds…
18-8-81
Marco Bertoni (also a member of the Confusional Quartet) in solo mode circa 1981. This 10" alternates between nice experimental pieces and jaunty piano works which are a bit too jaunty for me. Superb full color gatefold sleeve. Works for treated piano, electronics, etc., pure avant-garde, soundscapes & Futurist type musics. fter quitting the outstandingly original and enjoyable italian group confusional quartet, keyboard player marco bertoni, upon the invitation of the quartet's fifth member, re…
