Norman Westberg

Norman Westberg is an American guitarist from Detroit, best known for his long tenure in Swans, which he joined for their 1983 debut Filth. He moved to New York in 1980 and has played on most Swans albums since. In his solo work the electric guitar, passed through echo, reverb and other effects, becomes layered drone music. Westberg rejoined Swans full-time when Michael Gira reformed the group in 2010 and played on The Seer, To Be Kind and The Glowing Man, and later on Birthing (2025).
