Wallenstein

Country: Germany

Wallenstein was a West German rock band from Viersen in the Lower Rhineland, later based in Mönchengladbach, active from 1971 to 1982. Jürgen Dollase, a classically trained musician then studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, founded it and led it throughout. The early records mix symphonic and progressive rock with krautrock, while the later line-up moved toward shorter, radio-friendly songs and chart singles. The group started in 1971 under the name Blitzkrieg and became Wallenstein in 1972, named after the Thirty Years' War general.
