*2024 stock* Alberto García del Castillo's first novel, Retrospective, is a comedy-science-fiction novelette about “faggotry” and the art world; depicting a retour-au-passé in contemporary painting and waving to some of the most beautiful homosexuals on Earth.Flaunting otherness, the alert reader can follow a clerk of The Land of Sculptures whilst he encounters the pretty faces of The Painter, The Foreign Painter, The Tyrolese Painter and other people doing art and drugs. Retrospective includes…
*2024 Stock* Experimental musician, sound and visual artist Félicia Atkinson (born 1981) lives on the wild coast of Normandy (France). She has played music since the early 2000s. She has released many records and a novel on Shelter Press, the label and publisher she co-runs with Bartolomé Sanson. For Félicia Atkinson, human voices inhabit an ecology alongside and within many other things that don't speak, in the conventional sense: landscapes, images, books, memories, ideas. The French electro-a…
Being Time invites a deep consideration of the personal experience of temporality in music, focusing on the perceptual role of the listener. Through individual case studies, this book centers on musical works that deal with time in radical ways. These include pieces by Morton Feldman, James Saunders, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Ryoji Ikeda, Toshiya Tsunoda, Laurie Spiegel and André O. Möller. Multiple perspectives are explored through a series of encounters, initially between an individual and a work, an…
*2024 Stock* In 1984, John Cage gave a concert at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Thomas Wulffen seized the opportunity to talk to him about his work, about Berlin, and about Germany. The hitherto unpublished interview shows this major avant-garde artist in a relaxed mood, perfectly at his ease, though not without a light touch of irony. An historical document.
*2024 Stock* This reader brings together artistic and theoretical contributions on the instertitial nature of sound. This issue is addressed through a variety of prisms, such as format, language, politics, or new technologies. The Middle Matter is a reader which brings together thoughts on the nature of sound; its substance, specific qualities, and potential—with a specific curiosity to its propensity to occupy the spaces in-between, the instertitial gaps between different spaces, times, cultur…
Tip! * 150 copies only* The four pieces on this Small Cruel Party record all date from the late 1980s and predate any officially released material : "Cords" was entirely realised in Chicago, and the others realised, or at least finished, upon arriving in Seattle in 1990. The pieces were originally privately released on cassette in micro-editions of 5 to 7 copies and given to friends.
In 2009/2010 Petri Supplies, which had a complete set of those early privately released tapes, rereleased some …
“Spillá” (meaning "to play" in the secret language of the Neapolitan musicians) is a meeting between two masters of the guitar: Elliott Sharp's continuous innovation meet Sergio Sorrentino’s mastery of interpretation. Recorded live in 2018 in Vercelli (Italy) here we have the surprising and effervescent rendition of two Sharp’s graphic scores: "Hudson River Nr. 6" (1974) is an early experiment and is part of a series of scores derived from topographical maps superimposed to musical staff and the…
** CD in gatefold carbord cover with booklet ** “Stimmen aus Himmel und Hölle” is a searching work. Search for a new voice. The appropriation of new living and sound spaces. The title “Voices from Heaven and Hell” has multiple meanings that intersect, revealing themselves to our ears. There is the literal meaning, and therefore we hear (and sometime we "see") heaven and hell in sounds, through sounds. There is the meaning of the game (“Himmel und Hölle” is the German name of the "Hopscotch" game …

* 2021 Repress. Remastered. 180 gram LP * One of the rarest albums on the infamous Jazz label Strata-East from 1977 and it’s a spiritual soul jazz masterpiece. Sonelius Smith’s free piano comes together with Shamek Farrah’s heartfelt saxophone for a totally unforgettable journey into the meaning of sacred jazz. Fresh and imaginative, but not too improvisational. Rhapsodic but never over-indulgent and with a raucous, bold groove that’s in the real classic Strata East mold.Playful and wild but bea…
Tip! "This album features Pharoah Sanders playing some no-nonsense tenor in a quartet with pianist John Hicks, bassist Walter Booker, and drummer Idris Muhammad. Sanders performs "It's Easy to Remember" (in a style very reminiscent of early-'60s John Coltrane), an original blues, and two of his compositions, including the passionate "You've Got to Have Freedom." The musicianship is at a high level and, although Sanders does not shriek as much as one might hope (the Trane-ish influence was partic…
Wonderfully varied Free Improv, with a nice balance of different elements to keep it interesting (and not overly self-indulgent). One of those elements is Demetrio Stratos' voice, which is put to good use as a wild instrument (complete with duck quacking). It's rare for a band, that features Steve Lacy and Paul Lytton, to pull off free improv so completely convincingly when it is not within their normal milieu, but this performance is a testament to their musicianship and their listening skills.…
* 600 copies, numbered edition. Remastered edition, Orange vinyl *. Napoli Centrale were formed in Naples in 1974 on the initiative of James Senese (sax, vocals) and Franco Del Prete (drums) after their experience in another band called the Showmen 2. They joined forces with American keyboardist Mark Harris and British bassist Tony Walmsley and in 1975 released an eponymous debut album blending in an original way Mediterranean roots and jazz rock. James Senese’s father was an American soldier wh…
** Limited edition Yellow vinyl 180 gr. numbered edition ** Stunning 1974 debut album by Pierrot Lunaire full of fantasy in the real sense of the word: sense of wonder, a feeling of journeying through worlds and states of imagination, playful experimentation, and melody above all. An overlooked gem.
180 gr. Red Vinyl. Digitally remastered at 192 khz and 24 bit. From the original master tapes * From the original master tapes, 1st time rpressed on LP. Mere words can’t describe the impact of an album where the only instrument is the voice of Demetrio Stratos (actually, there are few synthesizer inserts played by Paolo Tofani). Originally released in 1976: a unique work where Demetrio Stratos makes any kind of experiments and sounds with his voice, reaching and going over the limit of human cap…
* Edition of 500, remastered * The mastermind behind the sublime Italian cosmic rock group Pierrot Lunaire, Arturo Stalteri's work both within Pierrot Lunaire and here on his solo debut (1979) occupies a perch in that rarified strata of Italian kosmiche godhead that also includes Franco Battiato, Franco Leprino, St. Tropez, Luciano Cilio and a mere handful of others. Absent the contributions that Gaio Chiocchio or vocalist Jacqueline Darby brought to bear in Pierrot Lunaire, keyboardist Stalteri…
* 500 copies, numbered edition. Clear Splatter Vinyl * Reissue of a 1978 LP out on Cramps Records. Demetrio Stratos's research into the field of phonetic and experimental poetry led to his freeing his voice every naturalistic restraint, restoring its depth and dimension. The result of this can be heard in the two recordings of his compositions "Metrodora" and "Cantare la Voce" where what sounds like an instrument is in fact his voice.
* Limited edition on crystal vinyl. 180 gr. Gatefold Cover * Roller was the second record for Goblin, originally released in 1976, just after the successful score of Profondo Rosso, and is one of the very few Goblin records that was not intended to be a soundtrack. By many considered their best effort, in Roller the band develops their dark, hypnotic and totally instrumental sound, but with an always vivacious and dynamic edge. The record also features new members Agostino Marangolo (from Flea) …
This is an excellent progressive recording by the Italian Hero trio, originally released in 1974 for an obscure German label. A very pleasant music style overall, at times close to harder New Trolls, but mainly influenced by the hard-prog style of the British bands of the 70s released on the historic Vertigo label. One of the very first releases on AMS, this album is now printed on LP for its first legit reissue on this format!
