Elliott Sharp

Elliott Sharp (born 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio) plays guitar, tenor saxophone and bass clarinet and composes. He studied at Cornell, then at Bard College (B.A. 1973) and the University at Buffalo (M.A. 1977), where his mentors included Morton Feldman and Lejaren Hiller. He leads the groups Carbon, Orchestra Carbon and SysOrk, the last devoted to algorithmic and graphic scores, and in the 1980s used personal computers in live performance in his Virtual Stance project. He has more than 85 recordings and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2014. Mode has released his Dispersion.
