Pop Not Pop (Songs For New Europe 1985-1989)
NEP was a loose multimedia collective formed in 1982 Zagreb, ex-Yugoslavia. The founder Dejan Krsic collaborated with various artists in a quest of re-thinking the stale concepts of art history, position of the author and the barriers between pop and elitist high culture. Heavily influenced by Walter Benjamin and Andy Warhol in theory and Brian Eno and Kraftwerk in music, Krsic created NEP as an umbrella term (NEP meaning Nova Evropa or New Europe) of diverse rule-breaking activities, covering g…
Clouds
More than to reward the artistic ambitions of the artist, the majority of Library records were generally functional to sonorizations and conceived for a commercial use. So the main difficulty for the artist was to demonstrate his compositional versatility that allowed the use of his songs in different contests : documentaries, spaghetti western movies, television programs and dramas, news reports. “Clouds”, fourth chapter of this new and exciting Spettro series, is a classic library release in i…

Archytas Curve is their second release. […] I am stunned by the immediacy of the improvising. They have developed a special way of playing…
The Avengers: Original Tara King Season Score
*2024 stock* "Mention The Avengers to people above a certain age - let’s be kind and say over 40 - and the famous Laurie Johnson theme music will get mentioned almost immediately. It’s as much about the show’s iconic status as Steed’s bowler hat or Mrs Peel’s fab outfits - all Biba and Quant. But as with all the best spy shows of the 1960s - and the strike rate was amazingly high - the music wasn’t just about having a great opening theme. Incidental scores also played a major role in developing …

extended loudspeakers
Jerrycans connected by a network of steel wires, each wire length and can location is adapted to the space. A loudspeaker is slipped inside one of the cans; the sounds it broadcasts make the wires vibrate. When these sounds are modulated (pitch, timbre, volume, density), the cans produce various resonances, which can be injected back into the speaker (feedback). The cans are hanging, so that listeners can circulate and choose different listening perspectives.
INUIT
55 Historical Recordings is not exactly “come on and sing along” vocal music. A trace of the collective exuberance heard in much traditional West African vocal and percussive music is here, but isolated in an the individual’s voice. The Inuit occupy one of the harshest, coldest, most desolate regions in the world, the area in and around the Arctic Circle in Siberia, Canada, Greenland and Alaska – the Land of the Midnight Sun.These songs, mostly traditional drum-songs consisting of one vocalist s…

Feral
Daniel Menche has established himself as a musician with a sense of focus and determination uncharacteristic in a genre known for its randomness and chaotic structure.Rather than creating 'noise,' he strives for order and cohesiveness. His presentation of sonic structures is similar to the way a writer depicts a story, an allegory seems to arise, which uses confusion as a symbol for the imaginative process of total sound purity; aural intensity is not a representation of confusion or the chaotic…
La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura / Nuctemeron
Lovely 2xCD digipack + 16 page booklet: CD1 features Luigi Nono's La Lontananza Nostalgica Utopica Futura (1992), an original title, a unique aesthetic metaphor even: one could say that the past reflected in the present [nostalgica] brings about a creative utopia [utopica]; the desire for what is known becomes a vehicle for what will be possible [futura] through the medium of distance. Performed by Tiziana Pintus /violin and Hans Van Eck /sound projection (The Schreck Ensemble).- CD2 features Ha…
Inhumane Humans
Novi_sad is the guise for Thanasis Kaproulias (b. 1980) who holds a degree from the Economic University of Piraues. He lives and works in Athens, Greece. Influenced by the pioneers of audio assault, he began generating sounds in 2005. No studies, no academic education, no scholarships, just pure learning by doing. Amplified environmental recordings, drone manipulations, structured ambient soundscapes, microtones vs overtones, all come together in a hyper structure of iconoclastic form. Novi_s…
Works 1958-1979
2019 repress. "This is a wide panorama of Nam June Paik work as musician -- 'Hommage à John Cage' (1958-1959), 'Étude for Pianoforte' (1959-1960) and 'Simple' (1961) are good exemple of neodada music and de-structuration in the late 50's, this is basically irreverent audio-collages. 'Prepared Piano for Merce Cunningham' (1977) captures an improvised performance by Paik on a de-tuned piano. While 'Prepared for Merce Cunningham' was later mixed and edited for use by Merce Cunningham, this raw, str…

Since its inception, SRL has operated as an organization of creative technicians dedicated to re-directing the techniques, tools, and tenets of…
What Lies in the Sea
What Lies in the Sea is the fruit of a ten-year collaboration between singer Lynn Cassiers and keyboardist Jozef Dumoulin, and is the first release for their duo Lilly Joel. Both musicians are free spirits and lauded innovators in their respective fields. File under: a mix between Obscure Records and the Birmingham sound. Belgian singer Lynn Cassiers is as much a sound-sculptor as a singer, using her voice, microphone, and electronics to create soundscapes. Belgian pianist Jozef Dumoulin redefin…
Pari Passu
Jamka is a music project set up by Monika Subrtova and Daniel Kordik, who first met as philosophy students in Slovakia. After playing in various hardcore and punk bands, Kordik had gradually become more interested in the idea of making musicwith electronic devices, and when Subrtova began to share his enthusiasm for synthetic sounds and misleading compositions, they decided to explore this territory together.Jamka played their first gig in autumn 2001 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava.
