It's Thurston's first solo outing since 1995's Psychic Hearts. Of course, Thurston's been releasing records here, there and everywhere, mostly in the context of rowdy and rambunctious noise/improv escapades but this new one is killer diller SONGS! Unlike Psychic Hearts' skeletal trio rock, this new jammer, 12 years post, has a far fuller bouquet of sonic depth and proves this Sonic dude to have a very real songwriting life outside of the legendary Sonic Youth (of which he is a founding figure, d…
Third archival MEV release on Allan Bryant's label. The first track, 'Quadrupl Play', is a piece for rubberbands recorded in 1966 by Allen Bryant. It can be described as 'variations on melody' and was played at the first MEV concerts in St. Paul du Vence, France and at Teatro Argentina in Rome. The second track, 'Pich Out' (or 'Rocket Take Off)', for 4 guitars, is loud and thundering, played by 4 musicians through 4 speakers at Sala Beloch, Rome in March 1967. Features Rzewski, Phetteplace, Curr…
A previously unreleased document of MEV -- four sections of an improvisation recorded in London, 1968, spread out over 43 minutes. The line up was Bryant (synthesizer), Alvin Curran (trumpet, percussion), Frederick Rzewski (amplified percussion, singing), Jon Phetteplace (amplified cello). Powerful, historic noise and the first easily available MEV music on CD. Also comes with a Bryant solo synth wig-out piece at the end. Both of these IRML CDs come in regular jewel cases, and endearingly primit…
Joan La Barbara begins Sound Paintings with a scream that pushes you into an unusual world of vocal sound. Her virtuoso singing style, developed over a 20-year period, can be heard on this disc, which combines some of her earlier works with more recent compositions. She takes her extended techniques, which include multiphonics, overtone singing, and glottal clicks, and orchestrates them in layered soundscape compositions using from 8 to 16 tracks of material.
This double CD presents diverse approaches to the phrase ‘nothing works as planned' by nine composers and sound artists. Each and every one of them captures a singular moment which was compiled together to create an esthetic sonic statement of reason and beauty. ‘Nothing works as planned' is comprised of live recordings of concerts in Tel Aviv and New York. The double CD is a documentation of a series, entitled “Nothing Works as planned”, which held at the above mentioned cities and was premier…
This album was originally recorded and released as an LP in 1978; Airway was a group featuring Joe Potts, Chip Chapman, Rick Potts, Dennis Duck, Juan Gomez and Tom Recchion. Live At Lacewas later included in the Cortical Foundation/RRR 10CD LAFMS box from 1995, but this version has been remastered, using the original tapes for the LP. It is considered to exhibit a "pretty different feeling of sound" and features unique artwork that was only used on Japanese-export copies of the LP when it was fi…
Airway started in 1977 as a plot by Joe Potts to subliminally program audiences behind the cover of a chaotic wall of sound. To create the wash of ear-splitting noise, all of the instruments, Vetza's vocals, and the subliminal implants are mixed together and processed through a daisy-chain of flangers, phase-shifters, delays and distortions. Then the super-charged signal is blasted through guitar amps carefully placed to maximize the ricochet of sound from wall to wall. Airway kicks the notion o…
The third and final part of the Organum trilogy that started with »Sanctus« (Robot Records - RR35) and »Amen« (Die Stadt - DS95). »Omega« is a further continuation of the first two parts. »While The Stars Be Not Darkened«. First edition of 600 copies in digipack sleeve. Collecting music for the sake of collecting is not something I am very keen. Music hearing for the sake of hearing music, that is what I like. There are a few artists whose new works I usually try to get, and Organum is one of th…
Xabier Iriondo and Mattia Coletti. Polvere by some means is the avant/kraut folk project of this couple of musicians and beside the experimental/post-psychedelic characteristics of the cd it shows their melodical/acoustic virtues.
The two Old Time Relijun member Arrington De Dionyso and Aaron Hartman join Jacopo Andreini (Bz Bz ueu, L'Enfance Rouge...) and Fabio Magistrali (A Short Apnea) for a instrumental avant-jazz improvised project
Two brand new pieces from 2003. Piano on side A and Tibetan horns on side B add new sound colours to the classic Organum drones. Edition of 500 copies.
Original and long time no see, limited edition of 700 copies. Far-out electro-acoustic sound collage, a development of ideas explored more briefly on Oizzo No. Sounds and voices in unexpected juxtapositions, and distorted in strange ways. It's outlandish enough to make it genuinely uneasy listening, and very imaginative, but as far as the genre's concerned it's all quite respectable, quite traditional. A simple narrative underlies all of Charlotte Corday, so it could be viewed simply as an abstr…

Yesmissolga Records is proud to present its debut release with a stunning piano performance by Charlemagne Palestine. The Apocalypse Will Blossom brings Palestine's recorded work thundering into the 21st century. Working in the lower registers of the piano, as he did in the late '70s, this intensely powerful live performance is unlike anything previously released by Palestine. Recorded by Christoph Heemann in Aachen, Germany at the Ludwig Museum in 2000 on the occasion of the 1000 year celebrati…
Second collaborative effort between german sound manipulation pioneer Asmus Tietchens and american improv-drummer Jon Mueller. The CD features 8 tracks that run up to 53 minutes. Jon Mueller on the second collaboration: "The previous collaboration between Asmus and I involved me using only sounds derived from drum heads. For Acht Stuecke, I've used only Chinese gongs and cymbals, so a completely different range of sound occurs. The performance of the percussion material was from various non-mech…
Fire Chorus is a work of “construction”. If, Bwana (alias, or, as you prefer, “personification”, of Al Margolis), presents a sound form starting from the concept of “perception”. His concept of electroacoustic music doesn’t belong to the idea of “appropriation” (which is behind the gestures of many people now working with natural, non-musical, or “other” sound sources). If, Bwana uses his raw materials as animated objects, letting them appear and disappear in his own sound structures. He creates …
Ostensibly a tribute to the ensemble’s influences from the late 20th century avant-garde and out/free jazz movements, 33 1/3 is an imposing and monolithic effort from Smegma, the long-standing, Portland-based underground noise collective. 33 1/3 finds the ensemble focusing heavily on electronics and bizarre vocal affectations on this outing, which relies on a framework of abstract free jazz as its basic foundation. It can be safely said, however, that Smegma’s material on the album defiantly ref…
This is Otomo Yoshihide's second guitar solo release on doubtmusic. The concept of this work, however, is complely different from that of the first. Here, feedback sound issues from two amplifiers, each connected to one of two guitars placed on a tabletop. Due to this stereo effect, the feedback mutually interferes, producing beatlike fluctuations, creating black holes into which the sound suddenly disappears, sounding completely different depending on the position of the ears, creating the illu…
