Canti Magnetici

The Weaver
The Weaver is the debut solo album by the multidisciplinary artist and Discipula collective member Marco Paltrinieri.  Merging spoken words with field recordings, electro-acoustic textures and relics of found melodies, The Weaver brings to life, across 6 movements, the memories and thoughts of a creature living in a world in which the distinction between reality and simulation, as well as between psychic space and external environment seems to have definitely collapsed. The album stems from Palt…
Isasolo!
Four hypnotic piano iterations, a sublime cascade of keys that swells with a transcendent majesty, releasing the instrument from its harmonic shackles thru a deceptively simple gesture. Highest recommendation!
La Plage
* Last Copies* Invisibilia, the new Canti Magnetici serie curated by Andrea Penso, is proud to present a composition by Michèle Bokanowski - one of the most poetic composers in the european avantgarde music scene - released for the first time on vinyl. Unpublished until today, this piece was created as a soundtrack to the short film "La Plage" (1992), directed by renowned experimental filmmaker Patrick Bokanowski, husband of Michèle. La Plage is probably Bokanowski's less 'concrete' composition.…
Liri Sm
Liri SM is a word play between ‘liri’, the Albanian form for ‘freedom’, and ‘SM’, the widely used short form for ‘sadomasochism’ (which is a paradox of freedom). They melt together in the form of ‘lyricism’ (lirismo in Italian). Yet the first letters of ‘SM’ also hint at the Italian form ‘senza male’ (without harm, innocuous). The idea is to explore the concept of freedom as something that sometimes scares, or rather terrorizes, petrifies people. Our daily freedoms are often a form of content, a…
Magneto Mori: Kilfinane
Edition of 100. Magneto Mori is an exploration of tape recording as a form of memory storage. In this iteration the location is the Irish mountain town of Kilfinane. Using a portable reel to reel tape recorder sounds from around the town were recorded onto the first side of the tape over a two day period – dripping rain, creaky gates, car mechanics, drainpipes, shops, church bells, refrigerator cabinets, wind blowing through the trees, passing traffic, etc. were just some of the sounds encounter…
Poesie Eugrughe
Edition of 40. In 1992 the Italian sound artist Francesco Michi curated a project for the Volterra Teatro Festival, called “I Popoli Virtuali” (Virtual Populations). The original idea was to create and show the evidences of the existence of these virtual populations. Michi arranged a series of installations, performances and an exhibition. He himself created the Eugrughi Population, with their own poetics and rituals. “Poesie Eugrughe” is the representation of a supposed Eugrughian poets recital…
Cargo
Steady motions between the Mediterranean Sea, Asian peripheries and Northern European expanses. Blurred traces of extraction, collection and distribution; entangled bodies; translocality; placelessness and non-time. In between the infrastructure: voices from an uncertain past; the possibility of a dead-end street; touching and releasing the ground. Recommended way of listening: half asleep / in transit. Ludwig Berger is a composer and artist based in Milan and Zurich. His work includes electroac…
La Colonna Infinita
"La Colonna Infinita" (The Endless Column) it is inspired by the short essay " Brancusi et les mythologies" written by Mircea Eliade. The "Column of Heaven" is an axis mundi, a mythological theme already attested in prehistoric times and which, moreover, is widespread in many variations in various eras and cultures: the Irminsul column of the ancient germans, the cosmic pillars of the North Asian populations, the central mountain, the cosmic tree, etc. In the symbolism of the axis mundi, the axi…
Fog Study
An inner study of fog. A slow descent through a hazy interior lined with various horns, scraps of breath, looped feedback, and layers of tape hiss.  Matthew P. Hopkins (Australia, 1978) is an artist based in Melbourne, working with sound, visual art, and writing. His audio work sits loosely within the realm of concrete music.
Ritorno All'Acqua
A composition (based on rough field recordings and tape loops) about evolution, the baptism of Jesus, about human beings who change deeply form and essence in their life time but also about a conscientious involution. Andrea Penso (Italy, 1985) is a sound maker, already active under different aliases (with some albums under Denovali records). “Ritorno All'Acqua” is his first official work under his real name. He is part of Black Moss / Canti Magnetici label team and runs the micro-label Kirlian …
Untitled
Gently unpredictable successions of concrete, electronic and instrumental sounds that chime, shudder, and wrinkle. Seven sequences salvaged from meandering recording sessions, self-collages from the remnants of forgotten ideas and intentions.Matthew P. Hopkins (Australia, 1978) is an artist based in Melbourne, working with sound, visual art, and writing. His audio work sits loosely within the realm of concrete music. Tim Coster (New Zealand, 1980) is a musician from Auckland, now living in Melbo…
Untitled
A music magma of junk-electronics, abstract tape loops and proto industrial drones. An acid mix of the early electronic experiments of Pauline Oliveros, the noisy static wall of Maurizio Bianchi and the DIY American weird touch like Nate Young and Aaron Dilloway. Michele Mazzani is one of the most "pure" representative of the Italian underground music scene. In the strangest places you can image as show locations (bivouacs lost in the mountains, crumbling houses, garbage dumps) he organizes live…
The Woodcarver
An acousmatic track based on field recordings mainly collected on the mountains of Northern Italy during two different phases of a wood harvest work.  "please close your eyes, just close them" Luca Garino (Italy, 1978) is an Italian composer active since 1996 in the fields of electronic and concrete music. He started as self-taught and then continues his research at computer music at LaSDIM (Laboratorio per la sperimentazione e la didattica dell'informatica musicale). Previously active under…
