*Limited edition of 150 copies.* Música Azul is a gulfstream of melodies originally written for Spencer Clark’s Avatar Blue exposition at Het Bos in Antwerp, march 2019. I got the original melody lines from a photoshop mock-up in which Spencer showed his ideas for the expo. I then performed the piece - partly improvised - on the opening night as to activate the several artworks that were displayed in the installation. Afterwards I edited and reworked the composition for optimal home listening.
*In process of stocking* Jean-Jacques Birgé and Lionel Martin decide one day to improvise from sentences of Fictions by Jorge Luis Borgès taken at random… This record testifies to an alchemy, two musicians who have never played together, plug in the microphones and tell, tell, find each other… A testimony engraved on vinyl of a short but intense moment. Silk-screened and numbered sleeve signed Ella & Pitr.
Lionel uses two loopers and effects pedals, his Keilwerth saxophone being sounded by a cel…
An "anemic cinema" might not make literal sense, but a renowned avant-garde film bears this title, by French-American artist Marcel Duchamp, focused on images of rotating swirls and discs. Junya Tokuda's latest project takes its name from the film, and its highlight track, "Parallax View" stands out on Anemic Cinema. It's an auditory depiction of a parallax—the perception of an object's position changing depending on where it's viewed from. The continuous thumps create the perception of "Paralla…
Osaka-based DJ and female electronic musician who has been releasing dub techno-centric tracks under the name Midnight JJ since 2011. In recent years, she has been performing more noisy and experimental live shows under the name Juri Suzue. Her aggressive live electronic sound surprises you with its ultra-low profile. This is her first CD and a long remix of Japa-noise king Merzbow on the B-side.
This is a DJ mix that uses only material from Vanity Records and remodel, two labels founded by legendary music critic/producer Yuzuru Agi. As if to prove his extraordinary artistic sense , the two labels, separated by almost 40 years, blend together without any sense of discomfort, neutralizing the listener's time axis and distorting the space. This is a work that embodies the paradox that "truly radical expression is universal at the same time".

This is a DJ mix of more than two hours using only sounds from Vanity Records and remodel(Yasuyuki Nakamura, label owner of remodel), two labels founded by the legendary music critic and producer Yuzuru Agi. As if to prove his unparalleled sense of taste, the two labels, separated by almost 30 years, blend together without any sense of discomfort, neutralizing the listener's time axis and distorting the space. This is a work that embodies the paradox that "truly radical expression is universal a…
Founded in 1978 by Rock Magazine editor-in-chief Yuzuru Agi, Vanity Records captured the cutting-edge musical trends of its time, including new bands working with post-punk values, alternative approaches by musicians who had been in bands, and electronic and industrial music as the cutting edge of the times. Vanity Records is said to be one of the first independent labels in Japan, and is an indispensable part of the independent/indie music scene in Japan from the late 70s to the early 80s. The …
*Limited edition of 200 copies.* Susana López returns to Elevator Bath with the follow-up to her critically acclaimed album, "Crónica de un secuestro" (2020). That release showcased López's refined approach to audio exploration, which predominantly utilizes field recordings, electronically generated sounds, and layers of vocal harmonics. With "The Edge of the Circle," similar techniques have been employed, but the final product is an altogether more ominous affair, relying heavily on atmosphere …
*Limited edition of 300 copies* Previously unreleased in any form, the seven tracks comprising "Brengenging Sala" (with a running time of more than 73 minutes) offer a true overview of Matt Shoemaker's genius as a master sculptor of potent and affecting sound art. His trademark haptic tones and scraping feedback build tension; his elegant electronics provide guidance; and his scrupulously curated field recordings articulate the sense of place requisite for full immersion in this sound world. Per…
Marek Pędziwiatr has been part of the scene for over a decade now. He has gained recognition thanks to projects such as EABS and Błoto & Jaubi. Still, he has never emphasized his name through the prism of these bands, betting instead on collective work. The time has come now for Marek to present his debut album entitled Marianna, featuring him alone as Latarnik performing in a piano solo formula. Being sought after for years as a producer for other artists and as a composer and keyboardist for …
*In process of stocking. 16 page booklet with Digipack.* ENDON (Blacksmoker, Daymare, Hydra Head, Thrill Jockey)'s frontman Taichi Nagura, a shamisen player of traditional Japanese nagauta music, and a guitarist known as one of the best noise players in the contemporary Tokyo underground Gojiro Sakamoto, an artist as known as creating and presenting their works in various places and forms based on screenprints, including paint on the walls of Shibuya's PARCO, Yuichiro Tamaki. These three-person …
*200 copies limited edition* Magazine is a new work for solo cowbell by Sean Meehan. It began with the serendipitous purchase of a small cowbell from the bric-a-brac section of a charity shop, and was composed initially on walks in the city and country, as the bell was an easy companion. As the piece was beginning to take form Meehan was visiting Governors Island, off of the southern tip of Manhattan. There he happened upon the powder magazine of Fort Jay and began finishing the piece over retur…
This fourth record by the long-standing improvising ensemble Rempis/Abrams/Ra, and the third featuring now-regular band member Jim Baker, was recorded in a watershed moment for these musicians during a pandemic that had gutted lives across the planet. After 15 months of being closed to the public, the band's home base Elastic Arts had re-opened for live events. And Rempis decided to relaunch his weekly Thursday-night concert series, a hub of the Chicago scene since 2002, with a performance by th…
Compiled by Ma Nu in partnership with Denis Longhi. "South American Jazz & Bossanova flavours from 60s & 70s in Liguria, north west Italy. Melody sounds really close to Brazilian Portuguese and instrumental tracks smells of South American Jazz. Nonetheless, the sound landscape clearly reflects the Italian Library Music of the time. This mingling was made possible by the commercial and cultural interconnections during the discovery of the New World: the local Ligurian language was influenced by …
"As such, the music succeeds in maintaining a balance between cohesion and surprise, occasionally coming close to the jazz tradition, but always on its own terms. It gives the album a refreshingly unconventional approach, a counterpoint of ideas that consistently marches to the beat of a different drummer. " - Guy Peters
"The most striking thing about it all is how these four people with four different nationalities (Kroatian, Swiss, Portuguese, Dutch) and backgrounds turn VISTAS into something wholly convincing. It is a rich, bold and rewarding statement that not only betrays a healthy disregard for genre conventions, but also creates a strikingly refreshing balancing act, and as such also offers a new shade to the steadily expanding New Wave Of Jazz-catalog, where improvisation, minimalism and various other st…
*In process of stocking* "Onno Govaert. Now here is a guy who deserves to be in the spotlights. Verhoeven and Govaert form a beautiful musical partnership that thrives on abundant dynamics and colourful interaction. Whether it is the subtle ripostes or the unanimous cadences that develop throughout their improvisations, there is always a crisp and natural affinity at the core of their partnership. With Dirk Serries, Govaert alters his approach. The combination with the amplified acoustic guitar…
"Today and all the tomorrows is one of those releases that sounds like cinema for the ears, despite the fact that the ‘song’ order might seem random and that it might be hard to find a general arc. Verhoeven firmly stands at the center of this music, flanked by two guitarists that get caught up in six three-way conversations. There is no agreed method or set of expectations and fixed ideas, but listen carefully, and you will notice how each piece has its own characteristics and turns the combina…
Tip! *In process of stocking.* Adrianne Munden-Dixon and Leo Chang’s “Some Time” presents stuttering physical exchanges between Munden-Dixon’s violin and electronics and Chang’s amplified piri. These pieces are tense and tightly-woven, yet constantly unraveling and reforming. Chang’s “ampiri” is a Korean double reed instrument running through electronics and played in unconventional and non-traditional ways. Recontextualising the instrument “quasi-autodidactically” aligns with Chang’s approach t…
