Extracøntinent
The extracøntinent that Damien Mingus invites us to visit on this new album from his My jazzy Child project is by no means an imagined or imaginary space. It's the palpable space forged by the musician's 25 years of activity, where popular and traditional music, free music and learned traditions collide. And don't confuse the ∅ (empty set) with the Ø (island in Norwegian) used in the title of this album and some of the tracks - it's insularity that's being asserted here. An island-continent made…
En Los Jardines De Mis Abuelos
This music is the result of a friendship established in Mexico between Marius Houschyar, Fabio Levi, Mazatl Alvarez and Mich Rubio who came together in the gardens of Central Mexico for spiritual and sonic exploration. All songs were recorded outside at the ranch of Mazatls father in Michoacán and the magical garden of the wise Abuelos in Mexico State between cactus plants and gigantic trees. The music contains mostly indigenous instruments such as flutes and ceremonial percussion instruments, a…

I See / You Mean
I See / You Mean is an experimental novel about mirrors, maps, relationships, the ocean, elusive success, and possible happiness. Through a collage of verbal photographs, overheard dialogue, sexual encounters, found material, and self identification devices (astrology, the I Ching, palmistry, Tarot), it charts from past to future the changing currents between two women and two men: a writer, a model/stockbroker/maybe dictator, a photographer, and an actor. A lot happens between the lines. Art …
Collector's Item
When Ira Gitler, jazz journalist and producer at Prestige, curated this album, the term "collector" was already well-established among music enthusiasts. The pursuit of out-of-print recordings, old 78 rpm discs, and unreleased material had reached an intensity comparable to the fervor seen in the vinyl-collecting market decades later. Gitler aimed to offer jazz fans unreleased Prestige recordings while meeting expectations for the amount of music on an LP. Initially dismissed as a mere compilati…
Crossbreeze
Norwegian rock trio Crossbreeze’s self-titled LP is one of the rarest of all beasts to emerge from the Scandinavian rock scene of the 1970s. Pressed in minute quantities on Experience, the label and studio founded by engineer/guitarist Nils Johan Øybakken in the small northern town of Mosjøen, Crossbreeze moves between acid rock and prog-y folk-influenced rock, Terje Nilsen’s fuzz guitar and Walter Albriktsen’s Moog bleeps adding shades of psychedelic space-rock. Crossbreeze disbanded after this…
Love Cycle
This psychedelic nugget wrapped within a lovely hippie album covers offers to an interested listener both conventional San Francisco psych pop rock, and also experimental material, proving that they were among the rock artists searching the boundaries of their art and style. The composition is interesting and quite innovative within the 1960's American garage scene.

Mirages II
AIR 's Jean-Benoît Dunckel & Jonathan Fitoussi have joined forces to release Mirages II, a sonic exploration of analogue synthesis, moving from the minimal to the cinematic. "After their first album as a duo, released in 2019, JB & Jonathan have gone back together to build another work, in which their two personalities unfold even more surreptitiously, always very attentive to each other. At their heart, an electronic spirit, anchored to a very mineral rhythm. There are glimpses and echoes of th…
Kawaida
A member of the radical black nationalist US Organisation, percussionist James Mtume championed the Kawaida way of life, aiming for collective creativity linked to its pan-African and Socialist ideals. With uncle Albert and father Jimmy Heath on board, Mtume cut this intense modal jazz concept album in December 1969 with Don Cherry, Herbie Hancock, Ed Blackwell and Buster Williams, yielding a masterpiece of percussion-heavy jazz, with every player on exceptional form, the five extended tracks re…
Tripsichord Music Box
West Coast blues rock act Tripsichord Music Box were part of San Francisco’s psychedelic underground during the late 1960s and early 70s. The expanded edition has five sought-after bonus tracks, maki…
