My Cat Is An Alien is the duo of the brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, formed in Turin at the end of the 1990s. They call their improvised music instantaneous composition. Early on they played guitars, toy instruments and wordless voice, later moving to homemade string instruments and modified electronics. Landscapes of an Electric City, first issued on their own label Opax, reached a wider audience in 2002 through Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace!. They have worked with Sonic Youth, Keiji Haino, Christian Marclay, Jim O'Rourke and Mats Gustafsson. The double LP Art Is a Tear of Noise and Infinite Silence, recorded without overdubs, came out on Discrepant.
