The fifth and final volume in the "Cosmic Debris" series of split ART-LP releases set up by the Opalio brothers, aka MY CAT IS AN ALIEN (MCIAA), on their own Opax Records, ends up at its best with the space duo sharing the vinyl surface with the legendary avant-blues guitarist Loren M. Connors. Connors, who can be considered as the last real bluesman on earth, has the rare ability to turn single guitar chords into pure poetry, and don't you think we all need more of that in these dark days? The two tracks collected here, 'Improv' and 'Thomas Paine', furthermore represent a true rarity, since they both document his now-defunct project named Haunted House, featuring his wife Suzanne Langille, Andrew Burnes and Neel Murgai, and whose discography sees only one cd and few private ultra-limited cd-r editions on Connors' own Black Label imprint. Despite these scarse documentation of the group's activity, estimators firmly believe that with this project Connors achieved some of the highlights of his entire career, and these two previously unreleased tracks can't but confirm this theory. On the other side of the vinyl, the title of MCIAA's piece, 'Everything tears like cosmic debris', speaks by itself, as it seals with a deep affecting conclusion the whole concept behind this remarkable series of art manufacts and collaborations. In the silence of the Great Void, sparse melancholic guitar chords and eerie vocalising build up an astral chant to celebrate the end and the beginning of a new season. Art edition of 100.
Side A recorded live 12/5/01. Side B recorded June 2006 at MCIAA's Alien Zone, Western Alps, Italy. Limited to 100 numbered copies. Includes unique signed and numbered painting by Roberto Opalio.
