** Double Single-Sided Art LP. Edition of 100. ** My Cat Is An Alien releases The Secret of the Space Bubble / Eternal Beyond IV, a double album documenting two distinct collaborative approaches within the Italian duo's ongoing experimental practice. Brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio present new work with French musicians Talweg and Joëlle Vinciarelli, expanding their exploration of extended compositional techniques and spatial audio processing.

Issued on May 2, 2025 by Elliptical Noise Records, the release comprises two single-sided LPs featuring instantaneous compositions recorded at Vinciarelli's studio in Saint-Jeannet, French Maritime Alps. The recording location at Col de Vence, historically significant for its influence on artists Jean Dubuffet and Hans Hartung, provides the contextual framework for these site-specific improvisations.

The first LP documents My Cat Is An Alien's collaboration with Talweg (Vinciarelli and Eric Lombaert of La Morte Young) in The Secret of the Space Bubble (21:25). The composition employs Roberto Opalio's systematic application of delay and reverberation processing to ambient microphones, creating real-time acoustic manipulation during performance. This technical approach generates what the artists term a "space bubble" effect, where instrumental timbres, vocal elements, and environmental acoustics undergo continuous transformation. The instrumentation deliberately avoids the duo's established setup, instead utilizing available instruments including ethnic string instruments, valve organ, percussion, and wind chimes.

The second LP presents the fourth installment of the Eternal Beyond series, featuring My Cat Is An Alien with Vinciarelli in Eternal Ecstasy of the End (17:40). This collaboration, active since 2015, represents a decade-long investigation into extended vocal techniques, prepared piano, and brass manipulation. The trio's methodology involves Maurizio Opalio's treatment of piano soundboard resonance, Roberto Opalio's processed vocals and electronic processing, and Vinciarelli's extended trumpet techniques that reference free jazz methodologies while maintaining contemporary experimental approaches.

The Eternal Beyond project positions itself as a response to current experimental music practices, developing what the artists describe as a "conspirative, prophetic" aesthetic that deliberately operates outside conventional avant-garde networks. This approach reflects their interest in authenticity within experimental music making, challenging what they perceive as the commercialization of contemporary experimental practice.

Music critic Anthony D'Amico has characterized Eternal Beyond as achieving "the singular collision of the imagined past versus the imagined future, the spectral versus the corporeal, and flesh-and-blood humanity versus the unknowable, abstract vastness of the cosmos." This observation points to the project's engagement with temporal displacement and the intersection of acoustic and electronic sound sources.

The album synthesizes elements from ritual music traditions, free jazz improvisation, minimalist techniques, raga structures, and contemporary noise practices. Rather than stylistic pastiche, the work presents these influences through the lens of the artists' established aesthetic framework, creating what they term "total music" that encompasses historical and futuristic approaches to sound organization.

Technical production follows My Cat Is An Alien's "Stereoalien Fidelity" approach, emphasizing full frequency spectrum dynamics across multiple dimensional planes. Fabrizio Ronco provides mastering, with recording handled by Lombaert (LP1) and the duo themselves (LP2). The hand-painted cover artworks by the Opalio brothers utilize 360g Favini cardboard, with vinyl limited to 100 numbered copies.
