Rare Original! By 1975, I Gres had established themselves as one of the most consistently exciting groups in the Italian library music scene. Their first two volumes, released on Globevision and Gemelli, had demonstrated a remarkable range, moving fluidly between hard-hitting funk, atmospheric bossa nova, blues-rock workouts, and cinematic mood pieces. For their third and final album, the group expanded both their sonic palette and their compositional team, bringing in Salvatore Lo Turco as an additional writer alongside founding members Silvano Chimenti and Romano Rizzati (better known as Walter Rizzati).

The result is an album that maintains the rhythmic intensity of its predecessors while exploring new textural territory. Where Vol. I and Vol. II emphasized funky breaks and jazz-rock fusion, Vol. III ventures further into Latin American rhythms ("Ritmo Pampa," "Garota Brasileira"), dramatic orchestral passages ("Corale Ostinato"), and atmospheric pieces suitable for documentary and news programming. The track "Lì Per Lì" became a particular favorite among DJs and sample hunters, its propulsive groove and shifting dynamics offering endless possibilities for creative recontextualization.

The name I Gres itself encodes the group's membership: G for organist Giorgio Carnini, R for maestro Roberto Pregadio, E for drummer Enzo Restuccia, and S for guitarist and de facto leader Silvano Chimenti. This core lineup provided the rhythmic foundation and improvisational firepower that distinguished I Gres from their contemporaries, while the compositional contributions of Rizzati and, on this volume, Lo Turco ensured a constant flow of fresh material.

Vol. III appeared on Globevision, the same Roman label that had issued the group's debut album the previous year. Like its predecessors, it was pressed in minuscule quantities for professional use, intended for the music libraries of television stations and film production companies rather than commercial sale.
