Truly unclassifiable, Turin-based Franti reached their artistic peak with "Il giardino delle quindici pietre," creating one of the milestones of Italian independent rock. Truly independent, given the band's complete refusal to exploit traditional channels and their complete self-production and self-management of their material. Ultimately, though, what matters is the music, and this album features a miraculous fusion of punk and hardcore with '70s progressive and folk, all tied together by compositional structures rooted in free jazz and fusion. It's very similar to Area, but remarkably relevant to the times in which this treasure trove was born, free of nostalgia or invocations of a better past. A rare gem, to be treasured.
