** condition: LIKE NEW ** Oversize 385 page book Issued on the occasion of the Living Theatre exhibition at Castel Sant’Elmo in Naples including a detailed documentation of both The Living Theatre activities and Julian Beck’s paintings from 1945 to 1958. Essays by Jonas Mekas and Ira Cohen as well as a Living Theatre Autobiography by Judith Malina are also included. At the center of this historical event stood the Italian Premiere of “Well Tuned Piano”, a large installation presenting the six-and-a-half hours continuous performance of La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela collaborative masterwork. A program of live concerts and performances was organized including Charlemagne Palestine with Tony Conrad, Ben Patterson, Philip Corner, Alvin Curran, Geoffrey Hendricks, Ira Cohen, John Giorno, Louise Landes Levi, Arrigo Lora Totino, Nanni Ballestrini. The big exhibition also presented the work of other contemporary artists investigating themes close to those of the The Living Theatre. Among the invited artists were Hermann Nitsch, Ira Cohen, Al Hansen, Alan Kaprow, Jean-Jacques Lebel, Gina Pane, Luca Maria Patella, Vettor Pisani, Robert Rauschenberg and Rudolf Schwarzkogler.
