Masmas was formed in 2021 in Rome during a residency at the Mattatoio – Palazzo delle Esposizioni. Simone Alessandrini (saxophone and composition), Mauro Remiddi (vocals and guitar, previously known as Porcelain Raft with several releases on Secretly Canadian), and Simone Pappalardo (electroacoustic artist and sound design engineer) share a free approach to sound and a desire to transcend genre categorization. More than a band, Masmas is a collective practice: improvisation, continuous transformation, and the centrality of error are its founding principles. Since 2021, they have expanded their research into concerts and audiovisual performances, collaborating with artists and film productions, and simultaneously developing a permanent laboratory in Rome east neighborhood. With Make a Mess, the trio marks their official entry into the recording scene !
