*2022 stock* 'He took off his earphones. Around him only fog and no sound. Where had the countryside gone? In his ears the music he had been listening to persisted. The final exploration on the piano tailpiece in search of rhythm and resonance still dilated time and space. In that music the grey that now surrounded him was not there. He had 'heard' and glimpsed yellow, red, sometimes ochre, blue, black (the shiny black of the piano, to be precise). He resumed walking, and with his steps, his thoughts moved.
"It sounds like written music. Instead... Instead it is improvised music. Structured improvisation. Riccardo, after all, is a composer-improviser, not the other way around. Clearly delineated sections, with clear boundaries that slide into each other (like the parts of his painting, each cut out for itself but inserted into a single scene). This is the dynamism of his music: variety of solutions in the unity of form. it is the compositional trait that has qualified him since his early works, the Scorrevole series, for example. Calculated balances, yes, but far from any artifice. A calibrated and natural flow. And so is Davide's drumming, equally precise, essential, elegant, flowing... And the crescendos? This is also music that thickens and rises - but without clamouring -, then subsides, liquefies and rejoins the beginning, in a circular path... Modality and jazz, hints of minimalism, analogue electronics translated into psychedelic trails, ethnic echoes and ancient music (the flute interventions)...
Riccardo has always crossed genres and joined them: his identity is plural, the style that expresses it is one. On a blind test you can instantly guess that the music is his and his is the touch. Style is the synthesis of someone or something that makes itself immediately recognisable, no? Riccardo moves outside academisms by choice, Davide considers psychedelia an 'attitude' to cross, with a broad vision, different languages. These are the premises. Scosse elettriche is the open field where they find development."
He put his earphones back in and listened again. The fog became tinged with the colours of the music.' - Adelio Fusè
