*100 copies limited release* Prayer halls, churches, warehouses, oratories, gyms, municipal halls: these are just some of the places where the various religious communities that inhabit Bologna (Orthodox, Evangelical, Coptic, Jewish, Catholic, Muslim and others) meet to officiate their rites, or simply to gather. In these formal and informal places of worship and sociability, sound and music are foundational and unifying elements through which liturgy meets collective practice. Massimo Carozzi and Agnese Cornelio collected music, environmental recordings and conversations in the meeting places of the different religious communities, in order to investigate the role and meaning that music and sound have within these contexts and to restore their linguistic-cultural and sound specificities, between the collective dimension of the community, and the personal dimension of the faithful, between memory and imagination.
A project by Massimo Carozzi and Agnese Cornelio.
