On Moon Field, Rafael Toral breaks new ground, it is his first edition that moves outward, beyond the Space Program series. Etymology (I, II) 7"
** Edition of 100 copies ** Primorje is the most recent collaboration between Giovanni Donadini (Ottaven, Fantamatres) and Matteo Castro (Lettera 22), focusing on the use of the 4 track recorder as their only instrument. Tape loops, field recordings, dub echoes, damaged beats and downgraded tempos creating two short, minimal and slithering compositions.
Transmutation
Two long-form pieces forgoing melody and rhythm in favour of pure texture. René Aquarius works in a register adjacent to Thomas Köner's darker drone music: a metallic sheen distributed across slowly shifting masses, gestures held to the minimum, every sonic event magnified by the quietness around it. The result is unmistakably dark ambient, but built with restraint rather than gothic excess, the focus turned to the ghostly imagery that emerges from sustained low-density listening.
Conduit
2018 release ** "Originally conceived for live context employing high volume playback and extended duration, Conduit pushes the parameters of musical composition and perception. Minimal in construction, applying high frequency staccatissimo that gradually turns in on itself, Kaori Suzuki's latest output delivers a striking twenty-six minutes of intoxicating computer music. A remarkable statement. Kaori Suzuki (b. Tokyo) is based out of Oakland, CA. Her musical works are concerned with our inner-…

Continuous Hole
Gilgongo Records is pleased to announce “Continuous Hole”, a collaborative album by Drew Daniel (Matmos) and John Wiese. The fruit of over ten years of home recordings in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Baltimore, “Continuous Hole” melds improvisation and musique concrète composition into a uniquely sweaty document of labor-intensive rhythm. A finger puzzle of reconciled opposites: lockstep structure and constant flux. Many of the tracks reflect the unique blending of the disparate backgrounds of…

Movement
Holly Herndon’s Movement is the debut offering of material by the young musician, modernist, and machinist. Restless for reckless cultural immersion, Herndon left her Johnson City, Tennessee home as a teenager for Berlin, Germany. For several years, Herndon lived and learned techno music as party dweller and performer, eventually returning wide-minded to the States to pursue a Masters in Electronic Music at Mills College. Under the guidance of network pioneer John Bischoff, Roscoe Mitchell, and …
Aakash
Aakash marks the debut recording of the Portland, Oregon-based trio of Matt Carlson (Golden Retriever), Michael Stirling (a disciple of the late Hindustani master Pandit Pran Nath and a student of Terry Riley), and Doug Theriault. Derived from live improvisational performances, the record finds Carlson's rich analog synthesizers joined by real-time processing of Stirling's lilting voice and Theriault's idiosyncratic guitar work and electronics. Dipping into a kind of liminal void, Aakash isn't j…
Next One's Called

All songs here are previously unreleased; Recorded and mixed between 1980 and 1981. Pseudocode were a Belgian electronic improvised music band, active from 1980 to 1982. Consuelo
2018 release ** "“score” or inspiration for this CD was a solo concert of Burkhard Stangl at the Reheat festival at Kleylehof in 2014. The theme of the performance was the song Bésame Mucho by the Mexican composer Consuelo Velázquez.  Chesterfield then took the recording and recomposed it, and composed new pieces mixing everything with old and new recordings, home recordings, accidental recordings, live performances ... all Chesterfield from 2013 till now... a Chesterfield diary of songs, of noi…

Musica Lavapiatti
In the past years we’ve seen many cool albums released as they were, just beautiful music artifacts with no particular purpose rather than pleasing the most trained ears in the underground scene of music listeners and cassette tapes aficionados. After a big research involving a copious amount of people including musicians, housewives and household management's scientists, Artetetra, in collaboration with the bolognese crew of Islandsexp, ended up with a catalogue of music that serves both as a p…

Arcaico Armonico
CD version. Like many of my generation, grew up in an age where the Internet did not exist and there were few sources of information, especially those inherent to the new music, I discovered Lino through his participation in one of the most daring musical pro- jects, the magnificents Aktuala, new band that released three great albums in the early ‘70s, full of innate grace, where Walter Maioli, Lino Vaccina and their cronies tended mystical and astral plots about warps of music and sounds extrac…

"By the time you read this Jerome Noetinger is no longer the boss/face/director of Metamkine, the French mail-order for all sorts of unusual music, music along the lines of what we write about, in case you might be wondering where to purchase any (http://www.metamkine.com/ and no we don’t get paid for this ad). After many years of making parcels Noetinger and his pals decided it was time for a new face (say hello to Franck Laplaine) and now Noetinger can work more on his music. His work has been…
