Airto Moreira

Airto Moreira is a Brazilian drummer and percussionist, born in 1941 in Itaiópolis, Santa Catarina. He moved from Brazilian popular music into American jazz and fusion, and he is known for bringing a wide range of Brazilian percussion into that music, with Miles Davis, Weather Report and Return to Forever, and on his own records, often alongside his wife, the singer Flora Purim. Moreira recorded with Hermeto Pascoal in Quarteto Novo in 1967.
