Aki Onda is a Japanese-born electronic musician, composer, photographer and visual artist based in New York. He is best known for his Cassette Memories, works assembled from a sound diary of field recordings he has gathered on a portable cassette recorder over more than three decades, played back, layered and manipulated live so that memory itself becomes the instrument. From those tapes he makes compositions, performances and visual works, and he has collaborated with Michael Snow, Alan Licht, Loren Connors, Nam June Paik's legacy and the ghost of radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi in his ongoing Nam June's Spirit Was Speaking to Me project.
