Anne LeBaron

Anne LeBaron (born 1953 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is an American composer and harpist. She studied at the University of Alabama, Stony Brook University and Columbia University (doctorate, 1989), with teachers including Mauricio Kagel, György Ligeti, Chou Wen-chung and Mario Davidovsky. As an improvising harpist she has developed extended techniques such as prepared and bowed harp. Her works include Concerto for Active Frogs (1974), the monodrama Pope Joan (2000) and the hyperopera Crescent City (2012). She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and taught at CalArts until 2024. Mode has released two albums of her music.
