Anthony Moore, born in 1948, has gone from minimalist composer to Pink Floyd lyricist with many interesting stops between, and obscurity with the record-buying public has been the one constant. His first solo albums, Pieces from the Cloudland Ballroom (1971) and Secrets of the Blue Bag, produced in Germany by Uwe Nettelbeck, sit squarely in the school of minimalism and give little hint of the peculiar pop to come. In 1972 he formed Slapp Happy with Peter Blegvad and Dagmar Krause, writing songs about spies, Siamese twins and other oddities, and the group briefly merged with Henry Cow.
