Art Zoyd
Art Zoyd is a French group from Valenciennes, founded in 1969 by Rocco Fernandez. Violinist Gérard Hourbette and bassist Thierry Zaboitzeff joined in 1971 and rebuilt the group in 1975, leading it as a composing duo until 1997. The music mixes free jazz, progressive rock and avant-garde electronics, and the group is associated with Rock in Opposition and with new scores for silent films. Art Zoyd's first album was Symphonie pour le jour où brûleront les cités (1976), followed by Musique pour l'Odyssée (1979), Génération sans futur (1980) and Phase IV (1982).
