Christian Wallumrød Ensemble

The Christian Wallumrød Ensemble is the group of Norwegian pianist and composer Christian Wallumrød, born in Kongsberg in 1971 and trained in the jazz program of the Trondheim conservatory. It began as a quartet that recorded Sofienberg Variations and A Year From Easter for ECM, then grew into a sextet whose music draws on baroque, Norwegian folk and church music and contemporary composition, with jazz on the margins. The sextet took shape after Wallumrød met harpist Giovanna Pessi in Zürich.
