Comus

Country: United Kingdom

Comus is an English progressive folk group formed by the art students Roger Wootton and Glenn Goring, who first played together in folk clubs around Bromley, Kent. The band took its name from John Milton's masque and grew to six members playing guitars, violin, flute, oboe and hand drums. Comus is best known for its 1971 debut First Utterance, later cited by Opeth and covered by Current 93. David Bowie booked Comus at his Arts Lab in Beckenham and had them open for him at the Purcell Rooms in London in 1969. Diana came out as a maxi-single in 1971.
