Controlled Death
Controlled Death is the dark electronic project of Maso Yamazaki, the Osaka noise musician known as Masonna, active since 2018. Built mainly on heavy Korg MS-20 drones, tapes and effects, with screamed vocals, it draws on images of death and decay. Controlled Death's first official release, Symphony for the Black Murder, appeared on Urashima in 2018 as an LP. The label links the project to early industrial music and to Vienna Actionists such as Hermann Nitsch. In 2020 Cold Spring issued Death Ceremonies, a split LP with Rudolf Eb.er, with whom Yamazaki had worked in the 1990s.
