David Shea

David Shea is an American composer, born in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1965 and based in Melbourne. He came out of the New York Downtown scene around John Zorn and became known for composing with the sampler, moving later towards concert music and towards works drawn from Buddhist and ritual traditional music and field recordings. David Shea studied at Oberlin and worked as a club DJ before switching from turntables to sampling; Zorn invited him into his ensembles.
