dj sniff

dj sniff is the stage name of Takuro Mizuta Lippit, a turntablist, instrument builder and curator. After studying in Tokyo and New York he worked for years at STEIM in Amsterdam, where he was artistic director. He treats the turntable as an instrument in its own right, playing one deck and a mixer with hand-made interfaces and his own Max/MSP software in free improvisation. Lippit studied philosophy and art history at Keio University and moved to New York in 2002 to study at NYU's ITP.
