Franz Hautzinger

Franz Hautzinger is an Austrian trumpeter and composer, born in 1963 in the Seewinkel area of Burgenland. He studied in Graz and Vienna, and since the late 1980s he has developed a personal language on the quarter-tone trumpet, working with breath, air noise and microtones. His main projects include the solo series Gomberg and the Regenorchester, the changing ensemble he founded in London. After a lip palsy interrupted his playing, Hautzinger moved to Vienna in 1986 and has taught at the city's music university since 1989.
