Frederik Croene

Frederik Croene is a Belgian pianist, composer and improviser, born in 1973. He trained at the Lemmensinstituut, with Claude Coppens in Ghent and with Boyan Vodenitcharov in Brussels. He is known for Le Piano Démécanisé, a practice in which he takes pianos apart and plays and composes with their dismantled parts, alongside his work as a performer of contemporary piano music. On the Belgian label Cortizona he released Cul de sac (2019) and Solastalgia (2022), the first two parts of a solo piano trilogy.
