Heather O'Donnell
Heather O'Donnell (born 1973 in Summit, New Jersey) is an American pianist who lives in Düsseldorf. Her teachers included Charles Milgrim, Stephen Drury and Peter Serkin. She has recorded Charles Ives extensively and has given more than 30 world premieres of solo piano works, among them pieces by Luciano Berio, John Zorn, Walter Zimmermann and James Tenney. She conceived Responses to Ives in 2003 for the 50th anniversary of Ives's death, asking composers for a “musical reflection” on him, and interleaved these first recordings with short Ives pieces. Since 2015 she has also worked as a psychologist for performing artists.
