Hilda Paredes

Hilda Paredes (born 1957 in Tehuacán, Puebla) is a Mexican composer based in London since her early twenties. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and at City University London, took a PhD at Manchester University, and worked with Peter Maxwell Davies and Richard Rodney Bennett. Her music has been played by the Arditti Quartet, the London Sinfonietta and Ensemble Modern. She held a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2001, and her opera Harriet received an Ivors Composer Award in 2019. She is married to the violinist Irvine Arditti.
