Idea Fire Company

Idea Fire Company is an experimental group formed in Massachusetts in the late 1980s by Scott Foust and Karla Borecky. Its music relies on repetition, tonality and minimalism, with a disorienting edge, and Borecky's keyboards meet Foust's synthesizer and trumpet. After early collage-based studio work the group moved toward a more compositional approach. Foust died in February 2026. Idea Fire Company's early records came out on Swill Radio, Foust's own imprint, among them two collage-based double LPs in the 1990s. Since the 1999 LP Anti-Natural the group has mostly been a duo.
