Luciano Maggiore

Three Things
*2024 stock* Three Things is a new full-length album of pieces conceived, performed and recorded by long-term collaborators Luciano Maggiore and Louie Rice. The pair are known for multi-pronged activities as artists and organisers which have quietly but surely informed the shape of the United Kingdom's experimental audio underground for many years. Under the guise of Nopaon, they developed a series of events and performances in which they realised scores by Alvin Lucier, Robert Bozzi, Ken Friedm…
Complex Envelope Functions From Nonlinear I/O and Feature Extraction Etc. / Automatic Love
Two new solo works by Kieran Daly and Luciano Maggiore ‘Complex envelope functions from nonlinear I/O and feature extraction etc’ and ‘Automatic Love’, sharing one disc. The first instance of these two presenting work in company; they play well together, forming a cohesive ‘split’ disc from beginning to end. Composed in 2023, both pieces deal with electronic and acoustic recorded sound, whilst presenting the distinctive, recognisable and acute styles of both artists.
Whistle Posse
Louie Rice and Luciano Maggiore work together performing score-based works - both acoustic (without a PA system) and amplified (with a PA system). The duo was originally conceived to perform works by other artists as part of an event series at Cafe OTO in London. This series acted as a research period that went on to inform the action-based pieces that Rice and Maggiore are now writing themselves. These pieces explore physical actions and vocalisations in response to pre-defined prompts or rules…

Pietra e Oggetto
A sparse and subtle jungle comprises the pieces that make up "Pietra e Oggetto". It is subtle, as such it remains in the memory. Thanks to the device of silence, which is like the air in between things, it allows time for what we have heard to imprint on our acoustic sketchpad. Like closing your eyes to preserve a memory and then moving on to the next. We feel a certain privilege in listening to these undecidable environments; these composite and hybrid objects filled with synthetic biodiversity…
9 Enclosures
9 short pieces, based on cassette recorders and small electronics. Recorded and edited between August 2017 and February 2018. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. Luciano Maggiore (Palermo 1980) lives and works in London. Active musician in the field of electroacoustic music, in recent years he has developed a strong interest in the mechanisms of sound diffusion, using speakers and several analogue and digital devices (walkmans, CD players, tape recorders) as principal instruments. His interest is focus…
Willy Nilly

The version for this cd is the almost exact replica of the one diffused during a concert in Nantes, Cable festival, May 2013. thanks to Anne-Laure Lejosne, Christophe Havard and Will Guthrie. Edition of 200 copies in letterpress sleeve.
Talladura
Luciano Maggiore - speakers, playback devices, Enrico Malatesta - objects. Different sound sketches realized and edited by Luciano Maggiore and Enrico Malatesta in Cesena, January 23rd, 2014. mMastered by Giuseppe Ielasi
Talabalacco
Talabalàcco is the first collaboration by Luciano Maggiore and Enrico Malatesta. The pair have deliberately eschewed the process of duo improvisation, recording material independently and composing with these fragments, resulting in a refined and purposeful combination of electronic and acoustic textures. The composition unfolds episodically, appearing to deny musical structure, but maintaining an incisive impact as its chapters accumulate.
intersezioni di vortici, studi ritmici e false chimere
“intersezioni di vortici, studi ritmici e false chimere” is a suite of ten short compositions for modular analog synthesizer (except for one track that incorporates a few sounds recorded with a microphone). Initially conceived as series of studies on panning and phasing, the work ended to incorporate parts of two other series, all realised in Bologna between November 2011 and March 2012. The cover includes some of Maggiore’s drawings from the same period. Luciano Maggiore lives and w…
How To Increase Light In The Ear
While the previous Chasm Achanés was based on low and rumbling frequencies, Maggiore and Brasini research is now focused on high pitched waves, through which they create a continuous movement of overtones and resonances. Tiny mechanical cracks are heard through the frequency bliss of the first track, a last resemblance of humanity into this otherwordly atmosphere. The second track has a continuous click, almost a clock, hidden under the microtones of three different frequencies which create an…
Chasm Achanes
MINDBLOWING! Chàsm Achanés is the result of a common project between two experimental musicians of the fertile Bologna (IT) area where sound/art projects like Xing/Raum, Netmage and Sant’Andreadegliamplificatori are run by a community of forward thinking artist and musicians to create a meeting point for different languages and sensibilities. Recorded in one take at Officina49 in Cesena (IT) this record has been created using tape recorders and several electronic devices (Maggiore) and…
Yellow
First 7 " by Luciano Maggiore, Yellow collects 4 brief sculptures, each of which has been developed (o built) using the sound of a single object without effects or filters.Recorded between 2009 and 2010 and mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi, it is the first selection of a serie of pieces all built on the same principle. A chaotic psychedelia embedded in a rigorous composition process.
Phonorama
A very nice compilation distributed worldwide by Wire and produced by Xing. Fragments of Phonorama were recorded live at Raum, Bologna, in 2006-07 from two collective performances conceived by Riccardo Benassi for Xing. The original recordings were re-shaped and re-composed in Berlin by Valerio Tricoli and Riccardo Benassi. Phonorama is a live electronics happening generated from improvisations by 20 musicians to create a collective soundtrack. One long environmental suite involving some of the …
