Luis Tabuenca

Luis Tabuenca is a composer and percussionist born in Zaragoza, Spain. He studied in Zaragoza, Barcelona (ESMUC), Amsterdam and at the University of California, San Diego, where his mentors included Steven Schick, Philippe Manoury and Mark Dresser. He founded Ensemble Volavérunt in 2014 and directed the FAT contemporary music and sound art festival from 2011 to 2017. Insula Dulcamara (2018), a piece whose sound comes from a bicycle wheel, is on Naturstudium (Mode, 2023), an all-acoustic album of percussion timbre with liner notes by Steven Schick.
