Master Wilburn Burchette

Master Wilburn Burchette is an American enigma: in the early 1970s, from California, he sold a series of self-produced albums of "psychic meditation" music by mail order, aimed at healing and occult contemplation, then vanished completely. His instrumental guitar records, among them Guitar Grimoire and Opening to the Power, are eerie, beautiful and unlike anything around them. Almost nothing is known of the man; his name may have been a pseudonym, and the striking cover art was the work of Caren Caraway.
