Mathias Grassow

Mathias Grassow was a German ambient and drone musician, active from 1980 until his death in 2025 and based in Bad Soden. His long, meditative pieces built from synthesizer drones, overtone singing and singing bowls drew on the Munich electronic scene, Indian classical music and an interest in spirituality. Mathias Grassow played drums and guitar before turning to keyboards and synthesizers, and studied at the Synthesizer Studio Jacob in Wiesbaden. Albums include Prophecy, Himalaya and Dronament.
