Matmos
Matmos is an American experimental electronic duo of Drew Daniel and M. C. (Martin) Schmidt, formed in San Francisco in the 1990s and based in Baltimore since 2007. The duo builds each album from a chosen set of sounds inside a fixed concept, from surgical procedures to plastic or metal. Matmos is also known for its work with Björk on Vespertine. The name comes from the living lake of slime in the 1968 film Barbarella. The first album, Matmos (1997), used sources such as cut hair and amplified crayfish nerves, and Quasi-Objects followed in 1998.
