Memotone

Memotone is the alias of Will Yates, a self-taught British multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer based in Newport who has recorded under this name since 2007. His music draws on ambient, jazz, folk and contemporary classical forms, built from clarinet, guitar, piano, percussion, synths and samplers, and in concert he builds his pieces live from many instruments with a loop pedal. Yates has released albums and EPs on Black Acre, The Trilogy Tapes and Soda Gong.
