Michael Bach
Michael Bach (born 17 April 1958 in Worms), also known as Michael Bach Bachtischa, is a cellist, composer and visual artist. He studied cello with Gerhard Mantel, Boris Pergamenschikow, Pierre Fournier and János Starker. In 1990 he developed the curved BACH.Bogen for string instruments, which lets several strings sound at once; Mstislav Rostropovich collaborated on it from 1997 to 2001, and John Cage and Dieter Schnebel wrote pieces for it. He is the author of Fingerboards & Overtones (1991) on contemporary cello technique. Mode issued The Art of the Curved Bow, Vol. 1.
