Mike Gangloff

Mike Gangloff is an American fiddler and multi-instrumentalist from Virginia who founded the drone group Pelt in Richmond in 1993 and later the Appalachian old-time band The Black Twig Pickers. His music moves between long, overtone-heavy drones and traditional mountain fiddle and banjo tunes, played on standard, octave and Hardanger-style fiddles, banjo, shruti box and percussion. Gangloff brought Jack Rose and Patrick Best into Pelt in 1995, and the group recorded for VHF Records.
