Pinkcourtesyphone

Pinkcourtesyphone is the alias of the American sound artist Richard Chartier, founder of the LINE label, for music that is more expansive and associative than the reductionist work he signs with his own name. The project came into public view in 2012 with Elegant & Detached on Room40 and Foley Folly Folio on LINE, built from drones, synths, field recordings and film voices. Pinkcourtesyphone followed with Please Pick Up on the Canadian label IO Sound (2013), which joins the Phototrash set, with vocals by Kid Congo Powers, to reworks by Yves De Mey, Frank Bretschneider and COH.
