Public Image Ltd

Public Image Ltd (PiL) is a band formed in London in 1978 by John Lydon after the end of the Sex Pistols. Its early records are counted among the pioneering works of post-punk. The founding line-up was Lydon, guitarist Keith Levene, bassist Jah Wobble and drummer Jim Walker. Their debut Public Image: First Issue appeared in 1978, followed in 1979 by Metal Box, first issued as three 12-inch 45 rpm records in a metal canister and later as the double LP Second Edition. Levene and Wobble had gone by 1984.
